Well folks, with my last Smallville post, you can tell how excited I am about the "Veritas" storyline and what it could mean to the show (hopefully, more action, less angst, and getting to the heart of Clark's legacy).  The preview for this week is exploring further what this may mean.  So, I'm posting some spoilers for upcoming episodes, which won't air for a while, but I'm still excited for 'Spring'!:D

Post-Strike 'Smallville' Spoilers for Season 7

Friday, March 21, 2008
Source:  BuddyTV.comTom Welling as Clark Kent on Smallville

When the producers of Smallville originally conceived next week's upcoming episode, "Veritas," they ended it with a minor cliffhanger. However, when "Veritas" ended up being the final episode completed before the writers' strike, it suddenly looked like it may have to act as a season finale.  The Smallville crew then decided to change the minor cliffhanger into a mind-blowing jaw-dropper.  As executive producer Al Gough recently told TV Guide, "We went in and raised the cliff."

Luckily for fans, the writers' strike came to an end, and the cast and crew of Smallville are back at work filming five more episodes to wrap up the season.  The folks at Kryptonsite have dug up some spoilers for the first batch of post-strike episodes, so read on if you want to know what will happen to Clark, Lana (Kristin Kreuk), and the rest of the gang.

Episode 7.16 - "Descent" - Airing on 4/17/08

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello has revealed that in this episode, "a long-running character — a series regular — takes his/her last breath.  As in dies.  For real.  No cloning crap this time around."  [Who???????]

Aside from that, fans can look forward to plot threads from "Traveler" and "Veritas" continuing, while Lois (Erica Durance) and Jimmy find a lead on a big story.  Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) will also confront Chloe (Allison Mack) over something that he believes she has stolen, and the end result of the confrontation will be brutal.

Episode 7.17 - "Sleeper" - Airing on 4/24/08

All that's known about this episode is that it features a woman named Vanessa, who is a blonde femme fatale type sent to investigate one of the main characters.

Episode 7.18 - "Apocalypse" - Airing 5/1/08

Tom Welling directs this episode, which features the return of Brainiac.  Two characters named "Chris" and "George Dean" are currently being cast, but it's unknown what role they'll play in the episode.

Smallville fans definitely have a lot to look forward to as season 7 comes to an end.  However, the biggest question left to ponder is:  who will bite the dust?  I'm putting my money on Kara (Laura Vandervoort), but I'm probably completely wrong.  [You're wrong, buddy!]

Who do you think will die?

Lana
Chloe
Lex
Lionel
Jimmy
Kara

Someone else???

I doubt it will be Kara, since it's supposed to be a character who's been around since season 1.

My feeling has been Chloe (especially after they reneged on adding the character to the comics!), but I can also see Lana or Lionel. Lex I really doubt, even though he's not back as a regular for Season 8.

Yeah, I'm thinking Chloe too.

:( This makes me sad.

I have to agree about Chloe to a point. It could come down to Allison signing on for Season 8, which she hasn't done yet. And I haven't heard anything about Lionel returning at all. Lana will probably come back but for only a minimum amount of episodes. So it's not her or Lex. I'd hate to think of Chloe dying. It is sad indeed.

I'm thinking Lionel. Remember how Lex offed Patricia Swann? I'm figuring that he thinks that Chloe has her stuff and when he realizes that's a no go, turns on dear ol' dad.

I'm definitely leaning toward Lionel too. Lex knows Swann went to Lionel about Veritas. Why would he think Chloe had anything? I think Lex tried to get information from Swann, and couldn't (off camera), then he had her killed. Lex is so evil, I wouldn't put it past him to kill his own father. :-(

Lex is so evil, I wouldn't put it past him to kill his own father.

That's part of the journey for this show. We have to see Lex go down the road of becoming an implacably evil person. Killing his father, even however justified, would be pretty horrific and would add up with what he did to Grant earlier this season.

Yes, the 'journey' is definitely what they've been telling us all along...both Clark's and Lex's journey is what this show is about. The culmination of Superman and the evil manical Lex. Of course, we probably won't 'see' him do it, that's not his style, but we will know whose responsible, as you said, like Grant and Pat Swann.

That's part of the reason I picked this 'quote' on my journal!:D (you probably knew that!) *grins*

I am going to have to go w/ Lionel as well. It just seems so be the natural arch for the character. Plus if they kill him they can have brainiac impersonate him next season keeping the awesome JG on the show.
24th-Mar-2008 11:31 pm (UTC)
Humm, interesting idea. I think Brainiac will be around for a while. Smallville will need a villian (to replace Lex) next season. I like your theory!:D

It will not be Kara that takes a dirt nap. Right now, I think it's Lionel but another candidate would be Chloe but I don't think it's her.

It's not looking good for Chloe or Lionel right now, unfortunately. I like them both. Were you at all shocked when all this came out about Lionel, and what he had done to all those 'members' of Veritas? It surprised me. I thought he had changed. You just never know. :-(

Lionel or Chloe. I love love Chloe and i hope its not her. Also when the spoiler was first posted (I saw this little bit of info at the smallville comm here at LJ) on the spoiler site, they had accidentally left the word "him" in the spoiler...something to that effect. Then they changed it to him/her. Dunno if it was an error in typing or if they almost gave it away.
Might just be Lionel.
25th-Mar-2008 11:59 am (UTC)
Humm, interesting 'slip'! I'd have to say Lionel, too. I really hope it's not Chloe. Although she's come close recently, I hope it's not a sign! *fingers crossed*

That last epy where they dealt with her powers-where she didn't come back for some 12 hours...i started freaking out at that point. I was worried that they were hinting at her death. :(

But this spoiler slip up-if its a slip up-would mean Lionel. After the last episode where we saw what he'd been up to, his days of being the "sorta good guy" in our books are over. Although I'm sad coz John is such a marvelous cast member and with Jonathan and Martha's characters no longer in the permanent cast, him being there was nice. I've got so used to him over the years...he's great.
